Different Cards
“Toil” utilizes a variety of card types to make game play flow smoothly. The content on every one of these cards was informed by intensive historical research. Explore below the different types of cards featured in the game and some of the research that went into their creation.
Annual Cards
An “Annual Card” is flipped over at the beginning of each round in the game. The information on these cards sets the stage, and explains the current events of the year that the players are entering.
Action Cards
“Action Cards” are utilized in the middle of each round and present actions that players can take, or events that happened on that player’s farm. Lots of research went into each of these cards!
Game Elements
Every decision in the design of this game was intentional and calculated. This section will highlight some aspects of the game that aren’t necessarily cards and explain why they exist as they do.
